OxIT Networking Event organised and sponsored by Community Internet plc
The Magdalen Centre, Oxford Science Park OX4 4GG,
24-10-2005
- By popular demand we’re running an OxIT networking event on monday October 24th. It’s your chance to meet like-minded IT professionals, learn from your peers and make some useful contacts.
The event will be structured around a number of roundtable discussions. The idea is that you visit the roundtable sessions that interest you. You can participate as much or as little as you wish and when you want to you just move on to a different discussion.
Each roundtable session will have a chairperson to ensure everyone sticks to the topic area and at the end of the night there will be a brief summary of the discussions from each of these chairpersons. So even if you can’t get round all of the sessions you will still get an overview of what was said.
The event details are shown below. If your organisation is a member of OxIT the event is FREE but you’ll need to contact Jane Beard to register your place. If you’re not a member there will be a £5 charge made on the door but why not become a member – it’s free to join and it will save you £5 on the night! Please confirm your business contact details including telephone number when you register and we will add your organisation to the OxIT membership database.

Clarkholt, Old Town, Swindon,

- Peter Hawtin of Brand New Way Ltd will be talking to us about Pay Per Click Marketing, but specifically Google AdWords, which Peter believes is one of the most powerful marketing initiatives in the last 50 years. For SMEs (& corporates) it is now possible to get your ad in front of targeted leads and bring them to your website with one click from as little as 1p.
This presentation outlines how Google AdWords works. It's simple to start and anyone can get an ad running in around 15 minutes. But if you want to achieve high click throughs, from targeted leads without paying more than you need to, you need expert help.
Peter has over 18 years experience helping companies attract new and valuable customers. Prior to setting up Brand New Way Limited he held senior marketing positions at Asda, RAC and Egg and has a long track record of energising brands and achieving outstanding results.

OxIT Conference
Danby Building, Oxford Science Park,
28-04-2005
- OxIT has been looking at the Public Sector market for many months. It was the subject of a well attended networking meeting in September and was clearly identified by our survey as a key focus for OxIT members. Yet the survey also highlights that to most members it is complex and difficult to engage with; the behaviours and rules are different to commercial markets. However it cannot be ignored as the government in all its forms is the largest consumer of ICT products and services in the UK.
Over the past 9 months we have been developing our contacts and establishing OxIT’s reputation in the field of public sector procurement. We will be presenting the developments in this area in an ambitious program for the 2005 OxIT Conference, which will be held on from 2pm to 7pm on Thursday April 28th 2005 at the Oxford Science Park.
The OxIT Public Sector Market Conference will combine stimulating presentations and discussions on themes related to procurement and Open Source with an OxIT Local Government Showcase which represents a unique opportunity for OxIT members to present their business to Oxfordshire public sector ICT decision makers from government, education and health and, separately, the chance to exhibit your organisation to the owners, directors and senior managers of local ICT or related businesses who will be invited to the Conference.
The Conference Agenda is attached. Regular email updates about the Conference, Showcase and Exhibition will follow and all information will be on the OxIT website.
The Conference is free of charge and your guests will be most welcome. However to attend, please register by email by 5pm April 26th: membership@oxit-cluster.org.uk or call 01865 784334.
